Currently riding high off the blockbuster success of ‘Water’ and global takeover thanks to the hit, Tyla has a remix to the song underway.
Speculation is rife as regards who the featured artiste is likely to be, moreso after the 21-year-old meteor shared a cryptic image alluding to a follow-up release that remixes the chart topper.
“Guess who…” She teased, much to the grave anticipation of fans who flocked her comments trying to decipher who the mystery artiste could be. Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Beyonce and SZA are some of the names mentioned in sheer recurrence, but one particular pop and RnB heavyweight carried the day – Chris Brown! Yup, fans are akin to the fact that the multifaceted singer is no stranger to hit remixes and are convinced he would be the guest on ‘Water.’
All thanks to gaining colossal traction on TikTok in August after Tyla started sharing videos executing the choreography, the song was catapulted to commercial success. ‘Water’ debuted at #67 on the Billboard Hot 100, later making a historic peak at #21 on the chart as of November 3. The achievement would make Tyla the youngest-ever South African and the first South African soloist in 55 years to enter the Hot 100, following Hugh Masekela’s ‘Grazing in the Grass’ in 1968.
In a span of months, Tyla has since become a household name, performs on reputable stages like ‘Fallon’ and featuring on Summer Walker’s ‘Girls Need Love’ remix that also features Victoria Monet.
‘Water’ is nominated for Best African Music Performance at the 66th Grammy Awards next year.
